The future,
in an orderly
manner.
Chromadyne Industries detects faint indications of what is coming, classifies them by color and consequence, and prepares them for general distribution. The Corporation has performed this work continuously since 1949 and sees no reason to stop now.
Three commodities. One concern.
Color
Every future arrives in a characteristic hue. Chromadyne maintains the reference standards by which these hues are identified, matched, and corrected before release.
Signal
Meaning travels poorly. It fades, drifts, and hides beneath the noise floor. The Corporation operates continuous listening facilities so that nothing important is lost in transit.
Continuity
Futures that fail to arrive do not disappear; they are merely displaced. Chromadyne warehouses these futures under controlled conditions until suitable arrangements can be made.

On the proper storage of unrealized futures
Personnel are reminded that unrealized futures must be shelved upright, away from direct sunlight, and never stacked more than three high. Futures stored improperly have been observed to leak into the present. See all bulletins.
Charter of the Corporation
Article I — Formation
The Corporation was formed in 1949 by the merger of the Chroma Corporation, makers of reference pigments and precision optics, and Dyne Manufacturing, makers of instruments for measuring forces too small to be felt. The hyphen joining the two names was retired from active service in 2026 and is maintained in the archive.
Article II — Purpose
The Corporation exists to detect signals of the approaching future; to classify those signals by color, strength, and consequence; and to distribute the resulting certainty to the public in an orderly manner.
Where a future has been postponed, rerouted, or otherwise displaced, the Corporation shall provide for its dignified handling, storage, and its eventual delivery.
The future arrives whether or not one is prepared to receive it. Preparation is therefore a manufacturing problem.
Article III — Conduct
All work shall be performed deliberately, documented thoroughly, and filed under the correct form number. Enthusiasm is permitted but shall not appear in official correspondence.
No employee shall claim to know what is coming. Employees may, however, state with confidence what it will look like when it gets here.
Article IV — Color Discipline
The Corporation recognizes four working colors: Signal Red, Carrier Orange, Reference Gold, and Continuity Blue. Additional colors may be observed in the field but shall not be discussed until they have been approved by the Standards Desk.

NOTE — The Contingency Program reports to the Office of the Director by dashed line, in keeping with its mandate to function when ordinary lines are unavailable. Displaced Futures Co. is the Corporation's sole public-facing operating unit and is indicated in Signal Red accordingly.
Divisions of the Corporation
Displaced Futures Co.
CD-DIV/01 · DESIGN & BRAND OPERATIONSDisplaced Futures Co. produces visual identities, artifacts, and communications on behalf of futures that have been postponed, rerouted, or otherwise displaced from their original schedules. The division operates the Corporation's only public counter and is presently accepting commissions from outside parties.
Work product includes brand systems, institutional voice development, and design services performed to the Corporation's usual standard of deliberate, documented craft.
Weak Signals Directorate
CD-DIR/02 · FORESIGHT & MONITORINGThe Directorate maintains continuous watch over faint indications of emerging change across radio, print, and atmosphere. Its operators are trained to distinguish a weak signal from an empty band, a discipline the Corporation regards as its founding skill.
Findings are circulated internally on Form CD-77 and are not interpreted until they have settled.
The Contingency Program
CD-PRG/03 · FIELD REFERENCE SYSTEMSThe Program develops portable reference equipment for circumstances in which the network is unavailable, untrustworthy, or both. Program devices carry the sum of recorded knowledge in a housing that fits the hand, speak when spoken to, and require nothing from the outside world except occasional permission to update.
Phosphor Works
CD-DIV/04 · DISPLAY & IMAGE SYSTEMSThe Works conducts research into persistence: the manner in which light remains after the signal that produced it has ended. Its laboratories concern themselves with traces, afterimages, and the long decay of bright things — subjects the Corporation considers commercially promising.
Sideband Audio Group
CD-DIV/05 · ACOUSTIC INSTRUMENTSThe Group is concerned with the portion of any transmission that carries the meaning. Its instruments are built on the understanding that the carrier is merely transportation, and that everything worth hearing rides alongside.
Bulletins of the Corporation
On the proper storage of unrealized futures
Personnel are reminded that unrealized futures must be shelved upright, away from direct sunlight, and never stacked more than three high. Futures stored improperly have been observed to leak into the present.
Color assignments for the third quarter; amber discontinued
Effective immediately, amber is reassigned to Reference Gold pending review. Personnel holding amber materials should exchange them at the Standards Desk during ordinary business hours.
Reminder: the noise floor is not a floor
Operators at Monitoring Station 3 are advised that signals have been recovered from below the published noise floor on three occasions this quarter. The floor is to be regarded as a suggestion.
Establishment of Displaced Futures Co.; transfer of personnel
The Board has authorized a public-facing operating unit for design and brand operations. Personnel transferring to the new division are reminded that enthusiasm, while permitted, shall not appear in official correspondence.
Atmospheric conditions favorable; all stations advised
The ionosphere is cooperating. Operators should make use of the opening while it lasts, as the Corporation cannot guarantee its continuation and has declined to try.
